Description

The CODESYS Application Composer is a powerful development tool that radically simplifies and accelerates the commissioning of varied modular machines from small to very large, and with variation points at any level of granularity: The complete, finished, adapted control application for the individual machine is assembled from uniquely created software modules, which only need to be put together and parameterized. The complete I/O level, the program structure, the visualization, the traces and the alarms – simply the entire CODESYS application – is then generated automatically and is ready for download: configuring and parameterizing instead of programming! Suitable for small machines, medium-sized machines, large machines, e.g. 8 processing units, e.g. 4 lines, 4×8 processing units and 8 common units, e.g. 4 sub-machines with 6 lines with 10 processing units each. The CODESYS Application Composer takes object orientation to the next level. Composer modules expand the object-oriented function blocks of IEC 61131 programming into multi-modal units that combine all related aspects of a specific physical or functional unit of the machine that can be represented in CODESYS projects: In addition to the program code and parameterization options of the unit, also its I/O level (devices and I/O assignment), visualization, alarms, traces and task membership. In this way, Composer modules can uniformly support combinatorics, interchangeability and optionality at any level of granularity: Variable structure For the variable structure of the machine from recurring aggregates (processing units, stations, …), you model the aggregates and their arrangement in production lines and sub-machines as Composer modules in a hierarchy. Interchangeable devices By modeling the devices (drives, robots, tools, valves, etc.) within the units, you can easily switch between alternative versions and always receive the appropriate parameterization options, I/O connection and visualization. Functional variance Are there optional functions, operating modes or processing steps in your overall machine, the aggregates or the devices, different ways to combine them or alternative implementations of functions with their own parameterization options? Then you continue the modularization into the functional level and also model functions, operating modes and processing steps in order to be able to select and configure them without programming. If a machine was ordered in a specific configuration, all you need to do is create instances of the corresponding Composer modules in a clear tree view and combine and parameterize them accordingly. The larger the machine and the more fine-grained its variation options, the broader and deeper the machine's module hierarchy. This makes it all the more important to build, display and edit the project hierarchically based on module instances in order to maintain an overview and be able to easily select and combine modules. The Application Composer saves even more work than manually writing the code, manually linking function blocks, processing steps and states, manually linking all I/O points with the code, manually linking the visualization elements with the code, etc. All of this is generated and scaled for machines of any size and any modeling depth. Without any programming knowledge, you will receive the complete downloadable application suitable for the machine variant you ordered, including device tree, visualization, alarm management and trace configuration. Using the CODESYS Application Composer efficiently requires a modular way of thinking and a development process that is based on the structure of the machine and its functions. We will help you find the right solution for you and accompany you with preparation and planning, with the development of a modular system and with structured introduction and successful use in production.
